Life is short. Eat dessert first!

Whether I'm creating specialty cupcakes for a baby shower, making hundreds of mini desserts for a Yelp event, or simply baking some cookies for friends - I absoloutely adore desserts!  Sugar? Yes! Flour? Oh yeh! Chocolate? Gimme, gimme!

Pastries Not Potatoes is not only a blog, but my tiny little dessert only catering company as well.  I've been in the food business for more than ten years and I can't think of anything better than to share my love of food with not only Chicago, but the world!

    39 Concerts in 31 Days.

Starting tomorrow, October 1, things at BDP are really going to be heating up.

Not only are we headed into prime party season with the holidays right around the corner, but there is a last push by artists to perform in town before the weather goes to hell and a handbasket.  So, in addition to our regularly-scheduled program of catering for various law offices, production companies, screenings and private parties; we are literally going to be all over the city for the next month feeding bands at the Aragon Ballroom, the Riviera, the Congress Theatre, the Lyric Opera House, the Chicago Theatre, the Allstate Arena, and Charter One Pavillion at Tinley Park.

There are only four days this month where there isn't a concert happening, and more than five days where there are two or more shows happening at the same time in different parts of the city.  I can promise you that if your favorite band is playing in Chicago this month - we will be feeding them.

    Stay tuned!

Hi I'm looking to start culinary school soon. I'm going to school for pastry, baking and management (hopefully at ICE in Manhattan), but the school I have my heart set on only offers Diploma program. I was wondering as someone who has experience in this field and works in it is getting a diploma instead of a BA in pastry and baking going to hinder my employment prospects? I already have a BA in Fine Arts and I know that would help, but is a diploma in this field looked upon as less b/c it is not a BA?

    Thanks
