Life is short. Eat dessert first!

Whether I'm creating specialty cupcakes for a baby shower, making hundreds of mini desserts for a Yelp event, or simply baking some cookies for friends - I absoloutely adore desserts!  Sugar? Yes! Flour? Oh yeh! Chocolate? Gimme, gimme!

Pastries Not Potatoes is not only a blog, but my tiny little dessert only catering company as well.  I've been in the food business for more than ten years and I can't think of anything better than to share my love of food with not only Chicago, but the world!

    Happy Birthday BDP!

Big Delicious Planet recently celebrated our 13th birthday in business.  Even though I've only been with the company a year and a half, it absolutely feels like home!

We had a party on Friday night for the staff and the clients that we have worked with over the years at one of our catering locations, Catalyst Ranch.  We made all of the food, including pork tamales, sweet potato empanadas, baked goat cheese marninara, and spanikopita.  Of course, there were desserts too!new%20014.jpg  On the menu was our number one requested dessert - banana pudding; along with red velvet cake, lemon blackberry babycakes, chocolate caramel tarts and mini chocolate chip pecan cookies!

We had way too much food, but everyone really enjoyed themselves and the open bar!  Throughout the night we listed to a playlist of all of the bands that we have catered for over the years including Ozzy Osbourne, Wilco, Beastie Boys, and Michael Buble.  Heidi also put together a great list of some FAQ's and Fun Facts about our business.  For example?  How many chocolate chips are in an average batch of our cookie dough?  8,000!

Here's to another 13 years of amazing food, wonderful friends and personalized service for BDP!
