Life is short. Eat dessert first!

Whether I'm creating specialty cupcakes for a baby shower, making hundreds of mini desserts for a Yelp event, or simply baking some cookies for friends - I absoloutely adore desserts!  Sugar? Yes! Flour? Oh yeh! Chocolate? Gimme, gimme!

Pastries Not Potatoes is not only a blog, but my tiny little dessert only catering company as well.  I've been in the food business for more than ten years and I can't think of anything better than to share my love of food with not only Chicago, but the world!

My Life on the BDP List...

Last night BDP had the pleasure of catering for the one and only Emmy award winning Kathy Griffin...

I am a huge fan of hers, and have been since her days sharing the spotlight with Brooke Sheilds on "Suddenly Susan". Lately it seems that she finding herself in all sorts of trouble(Jesus and I know what I mean), but truthfully - this is nothing new for her. She prides herself in saying what she feels no matter what the consequences, and more often than not her intended target is Hollywood and those on the A list.

I worked at the Chicago Theatre last night, strictly for the opportunity to meet Kathy - and it was a meeting indeed. One of the production crew requested that I make a plate for her wardrobe assistant, Judith; and take it up to the dressing room. I did as he asked and much to my surprise (but not really) I come face to face with Kathy. Kathy wearing nothing but a black bra and panty set, black knee high socks and white tennis shoes - DANCING around the dressing room. Apparently, this is how she warms up.

She was just lovely, and I was actually nervous talking to her...I've had my fair share of face time with celebrities after living in Los Angeles and doing the work here at BDP, but for some reason I found myself stumbling over my words. Maybe it was the black lingerie, maybe is was the stage makeup, maybe it was simply the fact that I was in the presence of quite possibly the funniest woman in the world.

Whatever the case - I couldn't have planned a better meeting and I'd be happy to watch her dance around in her underwear anytime she's in Chicago.
